JMB Labels drives growth with MPS
To keep abreast with production, market trends and the latest technological developments, Johannesburg-based JMB Labels recently invested in an MPS EFS 430 flexo press and a Rotocon Ecoline RSI 430 slitting, inspection and rewinding system.
JMB Labels co-owner, Aslam Monia, remarks that the company is continuously growing with its customer base to provide them with top-quality products. It has been ably supported in this mission by suppliers such as Rotocon, who offer the perfect combination of state-of-the-art machinery and top-class service.
The installation and commissioning of the press and slitter-rewinder took place during April and May and was complemented by training from Rotocon and MPS’ technicians.

‘Although the operators have already grown accustomed to MPS presses – we invested in our first one in 2012 – it’s always good to do refresher training,’ says Aslam. ‘Before we had any MPS machinery, our services to the market were limited. We chose MPS because it stands out from its counterparts thanks to its technologically-advanced, high-quality and value for money features. Since our first investment we’ve grown remarkably and our focus has shifted to a broader market.’
Driving growth with MPS
According to Rotocon sales director, Patrick Aengenvoort, the MPS EFS 430 eight-colour press allows label and flexible packaging converters to print on multiple substrates. These can range from self-adhesive labels and shrink sleeves to films and cartonboard in thicknesses from 15μm to 450μm, adds Patrick.
JMB Labels production manager, Farhad Evans, agrees that the MPS is an exceptional press. ‘It has met our quality and turnaround time expectations thanks to its quick set-up time and maximum running speed of 200m/min.’

Finishing touches with Rotocon
Aslam adds that the purchase of every MPS press is accompanied by a slitter-rewinder from Rotocon to ensure top-quality and diverse finishing requirements. This time JMB Labels chose Rotocon’s Ecoline RSI 430 slitter-rewinder, which has a slitting accuracy of 0.2mm and maximum output of 300m/min.
‘This model has been re-engineered as a fully servo-driven offering and now includes three servo motors instead of two,’ adds Patrick. ‘It’s also user-friendly because of the movable touchscreen console’s self-explanatory navigation tools that are similar to a smartphone’s.’
Aslam commends Rotocon and MPS for their levels of service and support over the years. ‘These partnerships have aided JMB Labels’ tremendous growth. The next step in our journey is expanding our facility to almost three times its current size (740m2) by early next year,’ he enthuses.
